Care Less Part 2

“It’s in the silence that your problems dissolve. Try it. It really works.”
-Robert Adams

Care is a motivator—it stimulates the desire to improve. Then, eliminate caring by being fully attentive, and the doing takes care of itself.

Become interested in the operation of your own mind; become aware of more thoughts. Each time you become aware of a thought, interrupt the thought-stream with a question—is what I am thinking about helpful or harmful? Apply that simple filter to every thought you notice.

Also note: is what I was thinking about of any value whatsoever?

To lighten the burden of caring, witness this: you think most troubles into existence. Upon becoming aware of what you were thinking about, the problem effortlessly disappears with the thoughts that created it. See that for yourself; you cannot benefit from it otherwise.

To restore mental balance, more and more, all you need to do is know what you are thinking about. Becoming aware of unconscious thoughts is healing in itself.

3 Principles for Living

Don’t think when thinking isn’t required. Rather, be aware of what you are doing… Know what you are doing.

When thinking is required, think objectively. Do not imagine subjective states and emotions into existence—they are almost always negative.

Keep watching your mind, and, from that, you will learn when it’s best to think, and when it’s better to pay attention.

Comments are welcome, and all questions will be answered.

I’ll post a new topic each Friday afternoon, in one of two categories. One will be on shooting, and the other will be on living. Or: how I learned to live from what I learned by competing.

Thanks for coming in.
