Krishnamurti

“What is that which is silent? Look into it by examining awareness.”

-Krishnamuri

I was a born doubter. From my earliest memories, It felt like most of my so-called “education” was actually just people repeating what they had been told, accepted, and believed to be true.

It always felt like I was “missing something.”

Then I found it. Or rather, it found me.

I was nineteen before I first heard the word “Zen.” In an interview, John Denver said he’d never been happier since he had discovered Zen. Asked what Zen meant, he replied, “what is, is.”

I put down the magazine, biked to the bookstore, and returned with a stack of Zen books.

In one of the books, which included a collection of various masters’ teachings, was a chapter by Krishmanurti. And it reached me at a level that turned into a sort of obsession with him, for the next forty years.

It is estimated that Krishnamurti spoke to over 10 million people during his career.

And here is the crazy part… In his last public talk, he summed up his philosophy with: “Here is my secret, I don’t mind what happens.”
