The Goal

“The essence of the great Way is to act purposefully without striving.”
-T’ai i chin hua tsung chih

BE, or more accurately, Leopard Man, in rare moment of repose at church camp.

Continuous awareness produces error-free action.

If peak performance is the goal, be aware of what you are doing. Know, intimately, what is happening.

As you repeat any activity, when aware—and only when aware—improvements occur and efficiency improves without any effort on your part.

You’ll recognize the improvement “after,” which will motivate you to be more aware.

For example, during a routine activity, or while dry-firing, you suddenly notice a new, more efficient movement. That happens when you pay attention to what you are doing.

In every realm of activity, continuous observation delivers infinite improvement.

At the ultimate level, the doer and the doing become one in the knowing.

Comments are welcome, and all questions will be answered.

I’ll post a new topic each Friday afternoon, in one of two categories. One will be on shooting, and the other will be on living. Or: how I learned to live from what I learned by competing.

Thanks for coming in.
