The Great Paradox
From the top of one of the 2,000 islands in Halong Bay, Vietnam.
“Resting in the natural state does not mean that you cannot think about things or work. The idea is to rest in the natural state and think at the same time. If you can do that, you can think things through and work but there are no painful or sharp feelings.”
-Thrangu Rinpoche
The greatest paradox: Although we rely on memory for everything we do… What we are—our true self or identity—is not anything that can be remembered… Because memory is conditioned knowledge.
To navigate each day, of course, memory is necessary. But to live without a heap of unnecessary problems, worries and desires, as often as possible, return to your true self: Know you are present.
