Time
“I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.”
-Alan Watts
Time seems more real the more you think about it.
Imagine that your physical trainer told you that next week, you were going to ride Airdyne (stationery bike) for two hours.
Imagine how many dreadful thoughts you might have, over the next week, before the big ride. Thinking about it, over and over, might have completely worn you out before even arriving at the gym.
Now, on the bike, you keep thinking, holy crap, two hours is going to feel like forever.
But then, while riding, you suddenly had a realization. What if, instead of thinking I have to ride for two hours, I just ride minute to minute. At the end of each minute, I just ride for one more minute. Yea, I can do that.
After many “one more minutes,” you might end up just riding, with caring about time at all.
When the two hours are over, you might realize that a problem is in thought only.
Moment to moment, be present, and see what happens.
