“The root of suffering is attachment.” -The Buddha
Do not be attached to thoughts. Since you learned to think, thoughts cannot be “yours.”
Take fewer ideas seriously. As you do that, an interesting thing happens: many things that used to bother you no longer do.
When you stop wanting what cannot be changed to be different, you become happier, for the simple reason that you have stopped making yourself unhappy.

Howdy!
You don’t have to study any religions, zen, or even meditate. All you have to do is become more interested in your thoughts: be aware of them as they appear.
It’s that exact practice—watching thoughts appear—that frees you from their crippling effect. As disabling thoughts are increasingly recognized, they appear less frequently.
When you know you are aware, only helpful thoughts appear.

Comments are welcome, and all questions will be considered.
I’ll post a new topic each Friday afternoon, in one of two categories. One will be on shooting, and the other will be on living. Or: how I learned to live from what I learned by competing.
Thanks for coming in.
